Clip Studio Paint is used for all 2D drawings in this project including background drawings, character cel drawings, vfx and more. My partner built the 3D model of the library and the robot character base on my design and I helped with texturing. Most of the indoor backgrounds in this project are Maya rendered images.
To achieve a 2D painting look, I paint on top of the rendered images with CSP and After effects.
For most shots with the robot character I draw a rough animation for my partner to use as reference when animating in Maya.

Backgrounds and 2d animation added
The robot is 3D animated. An outline layer is rendered and added to make the character more 2D-like. It is a difficult task to merge 2D and 3D animation especially when one character is 3D built and another is 2D drawn. To merge the two different styles I decided to add 2D drawn shading for the robot instead of directly using 3D rendered images.
